T3 Coupé tram
and virtual journey
through Prague

A virtual presentation and a ride on a design tram, on board of which you can refresh yourself with a good drink and enjoy panoramic views of the city of Prague... Or how to transfer design ideas from paper and share them with future passengers through virtual reality in a fun way.

STORY / DESIGN

Anna Marešová approached Brainz with an interesting project, namely the presentation of a new design of a unique tram. Her idea was clear - to create a virtual experience that would give viewers the experience of riding in the new T3 Coupé tram in a more immersive way. The presentation took place in a very original way at the international design show DesignBlok at the Prague Exhibition Centre. I worked on the project as a creative director and 3D creator. I dealt with the design of the story, the connection with the chosen 3D technology, the atmosphere to the final visual of the virtual experience itself.

STORY / DESIGN

Anna chose a visual style that referenced old period posters. We worked closely with illustrator Tomas Chludil to translate this style into the virtual world. I designed the actual representation of the route and the virtual Prague in 3D using a "cylindrical world design", which creates a natural flow of perspective and a stylized bending of the panorama. Together with Petr Kollarčík (PetrKoll) we collaborated on the realization of 3D Assets and motion design in Cinema 4D. We worked with Martin Tvrdý (aka Bonus) to bring the music and sounds to life, which added atmosphere to everything. After that, we made everything complete in the Unity engine environment.

LOCATION  / PRAGUE

Because the T3 Tram is not just a sightseeing tram, but also a "party tram", so as if by magic, we are transported from day to night in one moment near the Charles Bridge.

I chose the stylized environment and locations of the tram carefully. I was partly inspired by the well-known route of line 22, which in the real world is an ideal excursion and introduction to Prague for tourists.

So our tour started at "Náměstí Míru" Square with the prominent St. Ludmila's Church in front of which tourists like to take pictures, then continued through Prague's largest square - Charles Square, along the Vltava riverbank through Jan Palach Square and with a shortened turn at Lesser Town Square where the tour ends

VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE

In the photos below you can see what the presentation at the international DesignBlok show looked like. Anna Marešová conceived the exposition in a truly perfectionist way and made the experience even more realistic for the audience by placing the interior elements of the tram. So even the original tram seats. After marking a valid ticket, putting on a helmet, one could really feel as if they were passing through the beautiful streets of our capital city of Prague and sitting in the seat of a brand new T3 coupé tram.
